You can feel the power and the serrated edges of this killer Megalodon Shark Tooth from South Carolina. This tooth dates to approximately 5 million years old. The Megalodon is an extinct variety of shark that swam the seas some 20 million years ago. It was considered an apex predator during its time, with size estimates for this creature ranging from 50 to 60 feet long! Teeth like these are often discovered washed up on the shoreline of the eastern United States, or in river beds along coastal communities.
This piece has beautiful gray tones that appear almost chatoyant when tilted in the light. The tooth has been lightly polished on the top and bottom with the sides left in their natural serrated state.
Please Note: Megalodon teeth "height" are measured from the tip of the tooth, along the edge line to the base of the root (similar to a 45 degree angle). Approx. 3.5"H x 2.5"W x .75"D
