You can almost hear the theme song from Jaws playing when you hold this amazing Megalodon Shark Tooth from South Carolina. This tooth dates to approximately 5 million years old. The Megalodon is an extinct variety of shark that swam the seas some 20 million years ago. It was considered an apex predator during its time, with size estimates for this creature ranging from 50 to 60 feet long! Teeth like these are often discovered washed up on the shoreline of the eastern United States, or in river beds along coastal communities.
This piece has a beautiful contrast of grays and earth tones and has been polished to a high gloss finish.
Please Note: Megalodon teeth "height" are measured from the tip of the tooth, along the edge line to the base of the root (similar to a 45 degree angle). Approx. 3.4"H x 2.5"W x .75"D
