This beautiful beige banded agate slice comes from southern Brazil. Agate is a variety of silica with cryptocrystalline (very tiny) quartz crystals. While many Agate stones from this location are soaked in dye solutions to alter their colors, this stone's color and patterns are completely natural. The Agates formed within air pockets of hardened lava. Silica rich fluids flowed through these air pockets and began to cool and harden. Layer upon layer of silica built up within the pocket, creating beautiful bands of the mineral Agate. The top and bottom of the rock has been cut and polished to a high gloss finish, while the edges of the stone have been left in their raw state. This piece features clear Quartz crystals forming a geode in the center of the stone.
Approx. 4.5" H x 4.5" W x 0.2" Deep
