Give your home that extra geologic glow with this lovely Selenite lamp from Morocco. Selenite is an evaporite mineral that forms from the evaporation of mineral-rich waters. When the water evaporates, crystals of Selenite, a variety of Gypsum, are left behind. The thin crystal fibers all compacted together allow light to transmit beautifully through the stone.
Due to the soft nature of the Selenite, it can be carved into varying shapes such as the lamp seen here. It has been carved into a large rough tower shape with a flat-cut base with small notch carved out to allow an electrical cord to sit nicely underneath. A hole has been carved inside the stone so that a small light can fit inside. This creates a soothing illumination and soft glow.
This piece comes with a removable white power cord and light bulb which can be replaced with a warmer or cooler colored bulb of your choosing. Please note, due to the fibrous nature of the stone, it is possible a few crystal fibers may shed off of the lamp while handling, this is a normal and natural feature of this mineral variety.
