Galena

A shiny cubic crystal of Galena from Reynolds County, Missouri. Galena is a lead sulfide mineral and the primary ore mineral of lead deposits. It has been mined at locations throughout the world for thousands of years. Due to it's high lead content, the mineral is quite heavy for its size, creating a lovely heft in the hand. With an isometric crystal structure, Galena can be found in crystal shapes including cubes and octahedrons. This specimen has lovely crystal faces which shine brilliantly in even dim lighting conditions.
