This Amethyst Geode from Uruguay is anything but ordinary. While classic Amethyst crystals range from light to dark purple, this Amethyst has a slightly reddish hue. The unique color can be attributed to a secondary mineralization of Goethite crystals seen both on the interior and exterior of some of the crystals (see close-up photos for details). While from a distance it appears slightly reddish purple, when viewed closely the Goethite crystals are actually a golden brown color.
If the uncommon color weren't enough, the crystals shapes are also unique! The crystals within this geode grew in a stalactitic formation, creating miniature towers out of the crystal clusters.
The sides of the geode have been lightly polished to refine the specimen, with the front and back left in the raw and natural state. It comes with a custom built silver-gray metal display stand which is pre-drilled into the base (non-removable).
Full Specimen with Stand Approx. 6.25" H x 3.5" W x 2" Deep
Specimen without Stand Approx. 5" H x 3.5" W x 2" Deep
